Up to Speed brings your medical record, your day-to-day observations, and the small things that matter into one calm, private place, built for the people doing the navigating.
Invite-only while it is small. Free for 30 days, no card needed.
Hospitals see snapshots. Families live the whole story. Up to Speed holds onto what happens in the hours, days, and months that the chart never captures, and lines it up against the labs and notes that do make it in.
Securely link your Epic MyChart account so labs, vitals, medications, conditions, encounters, and clinical reports flow into Up to Speed automatically. Read-only, with the narrowest scopes that work.
Symptoms, vitals at home, medication doses, photos of paper handouts, and conversations with the care team. One-thumb fast on a phone in a hospital chair.
Curated lab dashboards plot the values that matter for your condition, with reference ranges and abnormal flags, instead of a wall of every result ever drawn.
A short, plain-English summary of what changed since the last visit, the questions worth asking, and the things to flag. Built from your data, never a substitute for your care team.
Plain-language explanations of lab results and clinical reports, written for the family at the bedside. Always with the original alongside.
Connect the assistant you already use, Claude or ChatGPT, to your own record, and ask it when a count last dropped or what the last scan said. The answer comes from your own data. It can only read, and you can cut it off whenever you want.
Optional one-way sync to a dedicated Google calendar. Appointments, treatment cycles, infusion days, and hospital stays appear alongside the rest of your life so the schedule doesn't surprise you. Read-only on Google's side; nothing in Up to Speed changes when you edit there.
Optional push notifications on your phone or desktop when a new lab draw lands and when an AI review is ready. Quiet enough to ignore, loud enough to catch the result you were waiting on.
From sign-up to a working record in under fifteen minutes.
Tell us your name, your email and your relationship to the patient. When there's room you get a one-time link, and you set up your account with a password or with Google. No insurance card, no clinic affiliation, no marketing list: we only ever email you about your own request and account. The first 30 days are free and you do not need a card to start. Join the waitlist.
From Settings, choose your hospital and sign in to MyChart. Up to Speed requests read-only access to the patient data needed to build your record, and nothing else. You can disconnect at any time.
Vitals, symptoms, medication doses, notes from phone calls, and photos of paper handouts. Quick forms designed for one hand.
Up to Speed aligns what your hospital sees with what you've captured at home. Lab trends, medication timelines, treatment cycles, and a short prep-for-rounds summary, all updated quietly in the background.
Up to Speed connects to your medical record the standard way, using the same SMART on FHIR mechanism MyChart uses for outside apps, and asks for read-only access to the minimum it needs.
When you link your hospital's MyChart, Up to Speed reads, for you only:
Up to Speed asks for a separate, narrow read permission for each of those, never a blanket “all of your data” permission, and it can only read. It cannot write to your record, place orders, schedule appointments, message your care team, or see anyone else's data.
| How it connects | SMART on FHIR (FHIR R4). You sign in at your hospital's own site and approve the request there, so Up to Speed never sees your MyChart password. |
| Who it's for | Patients, and the caregivers or proxies they've authorized. |
| How often it refreshes | About every 30 minutes while there is new activity, less often when the record is quiet; nothing at all when disconnected. |
| How it's protected | Encrypted in transit and at rest; your connected-record credentials are encrypted with per-record keys. |
| Leaving | Disconnect from Settings at any time, or revoke from your hospital's portal. Export everything. Delete your account. |
| Other ways in | Manual entry for anything the connection does not carry. |
| Optional outbound | One-way Google Calendar sync (to a dedicated calendar you choose) and browser web push notifications. Each is off by default, opt-in from Settings, and can be disconnected at any time. See additional disclosures for full data flows. |
Up to Speed began as a tool for one family navigating a long, intense pediatric oncology protocol, and grew to serve anyone living through a serious diagnosis.
The hospital chart is built for the people treating you. It is comprehensive, careful, and almost impossible to read at the bedside when you are tired, scared, and trying to keep track of what changed since yesterday.
Up to Speed is the other side of that record. It pulls in what your hospital already has, the labs, medications, encounters and reports, and lines them up against what only you can capture: how the day actually went, what the night nurse said, the dose given at 3 a.m., the moment that made it feel survivable.
It will not diagnose, it will not treat, and it will never replace your care team. It is here to help you carry what is already on your shoulders.
Your data is yours. Up to Speed is built so that has to stay true.
Up to Speed only requests scopes needed to assemble your record. It never writes back to your hospital's system, never orders, never schedules.
TLS 1.2+ in transit. AES-256 at rest. Access tokens and refresh tokens encrypted with per-record keys.
Up to Speed does not sell, share, or monetize health data. We use Google Analytics to see which pages get used; it never receives the contents of your medical record. There are no advertising partners.
Disconnect your medical record from Settings at any time. Export your data. Delete your account, and we mean it.
Up to Speed is invite-only while it is small. Ask for a spot and we will email you when there is room.
Someone you love just got a diagnosis? You can give Up to Speed to their family and pay for it yourself.
